Anyway, now I've put it on the blogosphere, there is no excuse to not wish me a happy birthday :-p. Please note that I also accept all major credit and debit cards. Cheques will only be accepted with a valid guarantee card. And NO Ugandan dollars please! Don't bother with a card unless there is cash in it (hey, I care about the environment!).
Chances are this will be the last time I blog as a 21 (cough*27*cough) year old. I usually despise getting older but I must admit that I am looking forward to seeing the back of age 27 and the year 2014. This year has been the hardest in my adult life and I'm excited for what the next year will bring.
I thought it might be a good way to end it by saying some of the things I have learned about myself and life over the 18 years of my life (denial is good for the soul!)
- No one is perfect (and that is perfectly okay!)
- No one is normal. We all have our own brand of crazy and this should be embraced and celebrated (or diagnosed and sectioned).
- Some people just suck.
- You never stop learning (except for those who never started in the first place)
- You don't have to get rid of the bad people in your life. At the very least, their dysfunction can make you feel better about yourself.
- I am my own worst enemy. Well cake is, but I buy the cake and I eat the cake so I guess I can only blame myself.
- When you point your finger at someone, there are 3 pointing back at you. So if you're going to call someone out on something, do it on social media. That way, the only thing your fingers are pointing towards are the keyboard.
- Friends come and go. But the voices in your head are always there so remain loyal them and them alone.
- Money doesn't buy happiness. But it can buy a lot of things that make you happy and distract you so I supposed it does, just indirectly.
- Everything that happens in life can be related to an episode of Friends (TV show).
- No one knows the real words to Michael Jackson's songs.
- Everything happens for a reason, but you probably will have no idea what that reason is.
- It's not what you have in life, but who you have that counts. If you choose wisely enough, the who will help you to get all the stuff you want.
- Retail therapy really does work.
- You can't change others. So killing them is your only option (I kid! I kid!)
- Don't judge people on their first impression. Give them a couple of chances. That way they provide confirmation of what you first thought and you seem more reasonable when you gossip about them.
- Your past doesn't have to define you. With social media, you can literally be whoever you want to be (Catfish anyone?!)
- Take lots of pictures. Its good to capture the moments, and you never know when you might get some good blackmail material.
- Everything has it's season. Especially Scotland, where it is always winter.
- Be forgiving, that way you'll always look like the bigger person (and it's good for your soul blah blah blah).
- Honesty is the best policy - unless a woman is asking you if her butt looks big in something.
- Communication is key. Don't be scared to say how you feel and remember that people can't read your mind (and you should probably stay away from the ones that claim they can).
- Your friends can be your family and your family can be your friends.
- You can't make someone love you. But you can stalk them and wear them down.
- If you want to get away with murder, commit it in South Africa.
- If you want to get away with domestic violence, become a celebrity.
- If you always wait for the 'right time' to do something, chances are you will never do it. Unless it's a ploy to get someone to buy you a designer watch and in that case, do your thang!
One more...since I'm almost 28 (*weeps*)
28. Two people can look at the exact same thing and see two completely different things. Obviously, the other person is wrong...like anyone who reads my blog and doesn't see how hilarious it is :-p
